In the name of the father...

I know all little girls go through toy phases. Like my little pony or Barbies. Some love playing house and pretending to be mummies to their little dolls. Well through the years Violet has had her fair share of "whats hot" now little episodes with toys.
She now has a new one.
God.
Yep thats right , my five year old has found God.

It was an easy choice for us to send her to a small Catholic Primary school. For many reasons that I won't go into - obviously part and parcel of being in the catholic school system is learning about Jesus.

When she is playing with her snap cards she says "look mum Ive made a cross" whilst rearranging the cards.
When playing the word game (a version of eye spy) everything starts with J or G.... for Jesus and God ofcourse.
"Im so glad Jesus has risen mum because he is such a good guy" or " I am so sad that Jesus had to wear that headband of thorns it must have really hurt"
At night times she has started to request that we all have prayer time - we sit in a circle and light a candle.
Her prayers are generally like this " Dear God I hope you don't get bitten by mozzies.Amen"

Hopefully I am not being to cynical when I say I am scrambling for every Barbie I can get hold of!

Here was my first try at bunting for a friends baby boy.

What about Mary and Joseph? Do they get a mention yet? Can she list the 12 commandments and/or apostles? Oh the catholic education system, the memories!

Maybe her next prayers will be - ' I pray that Shannon (my hero), will stop hurting my feelings...'

Bunting looks ace, way neater than my hodge podge ones. Or should I say pish pash ones!!

I say God made the damn mozzies so he should deal with it - but luckily Violet is much nicer to God than I am!

And the bunting turned out great.

Hi Joanne, I just found your blog, and was reading it last night. I was laughing so much - especially about Violet's prayer. I read a few of your archived posts too, and know that you have been down as well with the childrens' illnesses. Anyway, I will definitely be reading from now on. You are so entertaining. Thanks.
By the way, I love your bunting too.

My 6 yr old goes to school at "Our Lady's". Tonight she asked me why it was called Our Lady's and not "Our Gentleman's."

It struck me that perhaps I have been a little remiss in passing on my catholicism to my daughter.

Cool bunting !

I used to sneak into Scripture behind my parent's backs/wishes.

They were athiests. I thought they were pagans, and had no class.

Which *was* true, with or without God on their side ;)

when I was in primary school I went through a stage of sacrificing (ie chucking in the bin) half of my cadbury dairy milk chocolate and there were only two pieces to begin with. This was to show god that I realllly loved jesus.

This just made me COMPLETELY cack myself.

Still, I could think of worse Teen Idols for Very Little Girls than God and Jesus Christ, both of them pretty cool dudes when you get past the Bible belt, Christian thing.

And it all wears off anyway. My Barbie Girl's now into grunge, emo, peroxide and face piercings (please God, and Baby Jesus, let it wear off soon).

Future's lookin' grim for those mozzies, mate. I wouldn't be backing them no matter how good the odds were.

Oh cute bunting and little miss - I went to a private school and it will settle down - I recall my mum saying that I did something similar as a child. Barbie will be back!

Thanks for visiting my blog - glad you found me! Enjoy your cookies and the last week of the holidays.

Kylie
